River Clean Up

On Your Own (OYO) River Clean Up

Conduct a cleanup on your own or in a small group from September 1st to October 31st. You may register for more than one cleanup day. UGRA, with the support of many community partners, will provide cleanup supplies and coordinate trash disposal.  Volunteers will receive an Annual River Clean Up t-shirt and other freebies. Instructions for the OYO River Clean Up are below.

Instructions for OYO River Clean Up

Step 1: Pick your cleanup site

Cleanup sites can be anywhere in Kerr County including streets, roadways, ditches, dry creek beds, and waterways.  When it rains, trash from any of these locations has the potential to wash into the creeks and river.  Identify an area you think could use a cleanup or use THIS MAP to view sites suggested by UGRA.  Click on a site to view the details and directions.  Note: the Google Map does not display well on an iPhone or iPad.  We suggest using a computer to view the map.

Step 2: Register for your River Clean Up

Complete the REGISTRATION FORM.   Each participant needs to register individually.  After you submit the form, you will have the option to submit another response. Please register at least 24 hours before you plan to pick up your supplies so that we can have your correct t-shirt size(s) ready. If possible, try and register a week prior to your cleanup date.

Step 3: Pick up your supplies

Stop by UGRA on any Thursday or Friday 8 AM – 5 PM from September 1st until October 28th.  You will receive cleanup supplies (trash bags, trash grabber, gloves, vest), t-shirt, and other goodies.  See map at bottom of this page for our location.

Step 4: Conduct your River Clean Up

Cleanups can be conducted anytime that is convenient for you between September 1st to October 31st.

Step 5: Drop off your trash and supplies

If you collect a small amount of trash, consider disposing of it with your household trash.  If that is not an option, take your trash to one of the following locations (these locations are also included in the MAP)

  • UGRA parking lot dumpster - please use this dumpster if possible

  • Hill Country Youth Events Center - approval pending

  • More will be added soon

All supplies should be left in the bin on the sidewalk along the UGRA building on the parking lot side.

Step 6: Report your River Clean Up

We will need your feedback on the amount and type of trash you collected. One person from your group can complete the REPORTING FORM for all members. Also, please share any pictures from your cleanup – we want to see you in action!

Please upload them to the 20th Annual River Clean Up Shared Album or use #ugrarivercleanup on Facebook and Instagram.
