"Kerrville, TX – The Upper Guadalupe River Authority (UGRA) announced the creation of the UGRA Water Professionals Scholarship to assist Schreiner University students in their pursuit of a higher education and a potential career in Texas water resources management, conservation or stewardship. The scholarship will be an amount up to $10,000 and will be awarded for the 2023-2024 school year.
“The UGRA Board is excited to have a role in supporting and encouraging the next generation of water leaders for our community,” said Maggie Snow, UGRA Treasurer and Outreach and Education Committee Chair. “We hope these students develop a passion to preserve the health of the Guadalupe River as they pursue their careers in water resource management.”
To be eligible for the Water Professionals Scholarship, students must have graduated from a high school in Kerr County or an adjacent county and/or have resided in Kerr County during the last six years. Preference will be given to students who graduated from a Kerr County high school. Students must be a Junior or Senior during the award year and be pursuing a degree with an emphasis on water resources management.
“UGRA is providing an opportunity for Schreiner students to learn outside the classroom while providing generous support to the students that makes college more affordable,” said Mark Tuschak, Schreiner University Vice President for Student Recruitment, External Affairs, Marketing and Communications. “This partnership is truly a win-win for UGRA and our students for which I am excited and grateful.”
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic achievement, leadership, community activities, personal essays, letters of recommendation and potential to succeed in a water resources related career in Texas.
